A bus company has agreed to meet parish councillors after its decision to cut an important service sparked major criticism.
Arriva is due to attend the April meeting of East Chevington Parish Council following a request from members.
It comes on the back of changes made to the 20/X20 service in February, which meant that the bus no longer stopped at Hadston Square, as well as Amble’s Links Estate.
The decision caused anger in the communities affected. A petition started in the East Chevington parish has been signed by nearly 200 people.
Parish council chairman Scott Dickinson is delighted that Arriva is to attend next month’s meeting.
He said: “This is an example of what having strong councillors speaking up for the area can do. This, and the petition, will make a good case for getting the bus service reinstated. Hopefully we can reach an agreement or compromise.”
