Alnwick body find: Man named

A MAN whose body was discovered on moorland near Alnwick on Thursday morning has been formally identified as Alan Roper.

Northumbria Police were called to the scene at 7.53am after a member of the public raised the alarm and Mr Roper’s body was recovered to a local hospital.

The 40-year-old’s home at King Street in Alnwick was cordoned off shortly afterwards as an investigation into his death was launched.

A police spokesman said this afternoon: “We are now in a position to identify the deceased as Alan Roper, a 40-year-old man from King Street. The coroner has been informed and a post-mortem is due to take place early next week.

“At this stage, there are no suspicious circumstances.”
