Advice services return to village

After a gap of six months, Berwick Citizens Advice Bureau has been able to reinstate weekly advice sessions in Wooler.

The bureau has provided outreach services in Belford, Seahouses and Wooler for 18 of the past 19 years.

Unfortunately they were unable to find replacement funding when the most recent Big Lottery five-year funding ended in April 2012.

Bureau manager Jennifer Hall said: “We’re delighted that this particular service will once again be available as people living in rural areas who face additional problems accessing advice.

“We are especially grateful for the joint support of the three funders of the service, a local charitable trust (The Lord Nigel Vinson Charitable Trust), Northumberland County Council and Wooler Parish Council.”

Appointments were offered yesterday in the Cheviot Centre and will be available weekly from now.
