American-themed sandwiches with a best-of-British slant are going great guns at a butcher’s shop in Alnwick.

R Turnbull and Sons in Market Street reports that its new sarnies, based on barbecue pulled pork and their own twist on the classic hot dog are being snapped up by eager customers.

Shop owner Mark Turnbull first came across pulled pork sandwiches while holidaying in Florida and decided to introduce them in the shop.
