A Seahouses woman has created a warning poster relating to the Holy Island Causeway using a children’s character she has created.

Olwen Foggon has been painting and drawing all of her life, but in recent years, she has got into digital art.

The 51-year-old said she got tired of seeing how many times people get stranded on the Causeway and thought of the public information adverts called Charlie Says, which used to be on TV in the 1970s.

So she created the warning poster above based on the character from a book she’s starting, The Little Time Traveller called Lindi Farne, about a little lass from Holy Island who time travels on her red bicycle. Olwen plans to donate a percentage of proceeds to the RNLI.

She shared the design with the Holy Island Coastguard Rescue Team, which wants to use it as a safety message.

A spokesman for the team said: “Our main advice is to check tide times before visiting the coast and if you find yourself in any difficulties to dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.”
