Lifeboat called out

A LIFEBOAT was launched last week after a man fell ill on Holy Island.

The Seahouses lifeboat was called out at 10.20pm on Thursday night as there was no road access due to the tide.

The ambulance crew was directed to Seahouses harbour, and the lifeboat launched to transport the ambulance crew by sea to the island.

Meanwhile Holy Island Coastguards had checked the causeway and found the tide was dropping and therefore safe for an ambulance to cross, so the lifeboat was stood down and returned to station.
