Let’s paint the town blue in the name of fund-raising

A fundraising Paint The Town Blue Day, in aid of The Stephen Carey Fund, is taking place in Alnwick on Sunday.

Organised by landlord Scott Doherty, from Doc’s and The Black Swan, the event encourages businesses in the town to offer discounts and incentives to customers who are wearing blue or donning a specially-printed Stephen Carey Fund T-shirt (available from Doc’s).

Collection buckets will also be put out.

Businesses which have already signed up and will be putting on special offers throughout the day include Doc’s, The Black Swan, Dirty Bottles, I Won’t Tell, the Oddfellows Arms, Di Sopra, Penny Black, The Plough, The Market Tavern and the Queen’s Head.

For more information about the offers that are being put on, visit the Facebook page Alnwick day...paint the town blue.

To register as a business to take part, send Scott a message via the Doc’s Facebook page.

The namesake Stephen Carey Fund has provided vital life-saving equipment to numerous communities, in memory of the 21-year-old from Alnmouth who collapsed and died while playing football in 2012.
