Best feet forward

After a summer that had whistled by, it was the first meeting after the summer break for Lesbury WI.

Susan Wood, our president, welcomed everyone back after the short break, and as so often happens after a holiday, there was much to do.

Julie Hewitt was our speaker for the evening and her subject was feet. There was so much we did not know about feet, and perhaps some we would rather forget. To finish, Julie had us taking off our shoes and exercising our feet. This caused much amusement among the members.

Jan McMahon gave the vote of thanks for a most interesting and enjoyable talk.

Continuing this theme of feet, the monthly competition was a shoe ornament: 1 Veronica Merryweather; 2 Penny Hewitt; 3 Sandra McKnight.

As there were no birthday girls for September, we only had the August bouquet to present and this went to Mollie Fairbairn.

Once the raffle had been dealt with and dates for upcoming events read out, the meeting drew to a close.

Our next meeting is on Tuesday, October 13, and members were reminded that not only is it our annual meeting but there will be a pooled supper as well.
