TICKETS to see a world-famous comedian at a north Northumberland theatre have sold out, after eager fans queued for hours to bag a seat.
Award-winning Lee Evans is to appear at The Maltings, Berwick, for a special warm up show on May 3 as he prepares for his forthcoming Roadrunner arena tour of the UK and Ireland this summer.
Demand to watch the renowned funnyman in action has been extremely high since the news broke last week.
The venue has been inundated with telephone calls while general sale tickets, priced at £25, were snapped up like hot cakes, selling out in just 30 minutes after being made available at 10am today.
Hundreds of people had started to queue hours earlier in a desperate attempt to get their hands on tickets, which were initially offered to Friends of The Maltings last Thursday.
A statement on The Maltings website today read: “Over 200 people queued from 5am on Monday, March 21 for the remaining tickets for this show, which has now sold out.
“We recognise that many people were disappointed not to be able to secure tickets, but sadly with only 317 seats available and with such high demand (we have answered over 600 telephone enquiries since Thursday, March 17) this was unavoidable. We just wish we had a 2,000 seat theatre...
“Congratulations to those who have managed to purchase tickets – and commiserations to those who did not.”
