Year 5 pupils at St Michael’s CE Primary School, Alnwick, took part in a special Star Wars-themed control workshop.

The children took control of a variety of droids and robots and programmed them to navigate around a range of bunkers and hangers.

The droids included BB-8, roamer, Beebot, Blue-bot, Big Track, Pro Bot and a drone.

Headteacher Gavin Johnston said: “The children learned a lot about the importance of clear instructions and working together as well as having so much fun.”

The workshop was just the latest in a series of activities for the new Year 5s at St Michael’s following the switch to a two-tier primary and secondary school system in the Alnwick Partnership at the start of the academic year.
