A GROUP that has put £1.2million into Northumberland’s rural economy in the last two years is holding its AGM next week.
With further funding allocated for use over the next two years, the Northumberland Coast and Lowlands Leader Local Action Group – open to everyone, residents, farmers, landowners, businesses and community groups – is actively seeking projects to help them decide on investment priorities for their area.
The AGM will take place at the Barn at Beal on Friday, May 11, from 4.30pm to 6.30pm.
Leader is a community-led approach to rural development and is seen by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs as an important way of addressing rural needs within the Rural Development Programme for England.
The guest speaker for the event is Adrian Sherwood, rural development programme manager.
Leader coordinator Ivan Hewitt said: “We are committed to helping support and develop communities to have a real say in the delivery of rural development through local community-led projects.”
