Repairs to the B6344 to Rothbury, which has been closed since 2012 due to a landslip, are on track with the reopening of the road likely in early 2016.

Following a visit to the site last Thursday, Rothbury councillor Steven Bridgett reported that ‘work is continuing with piling installation and approximately three-quarters of the required 436 piles are now installed. Progress is good and it is anticipated that piling will be complete by the end of next week’.

The £9million construction scheme began in February and was originally slated for completion next month, but in the summer, it was revealed that the timescale had slipped due to ‘technical difficulties on one aspect of the work’.
