Organisers of a 26-mile cycle ride around the biggest man-made lake in Northern Europe are encouraging people to take part and raise vital funds for the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS).

Cyclists will circumnavigate Kielder Water in the Northumberland National Park on September 26.

This is the first time that the Kielder Water Cycle Ride has been open to the public as it was previously ridden only by employees of Northumbrian Water, which owns the reservoir.

Organiser Peter Scorer, of Northumbrian Water, said: “I am looking forward to opening the event to the public. It is a great way to raise money and to experience all the beauty that the lake has to offer while raising funds for a vital charity.”
