Jus-Rol factory to be bought by bakery

Country Style Foods is a modern craft bakery company, with sites across the UK.

It supplies the in-store bakeries of leading grocery retailers, as well as servicing foodservice customers.

With over 150 years’ baking and milling experience, the company specialises in producing in-store bakery breads, pastries, pies and desserts.

General Mills, the owners of Jus-Rol, and Country Style Foods expect to complete the transaction before the end of the calendar year.

A spokesperson for Jus-Rol said: “We’re pleased that a successful business of Country Style Foods’ stature has chosen to enter into an agreement to take ownership of the Berwick site. We believe that this will provide the best possible outcome for the facility and the local community.”

Joe Wood, managing director of Country Style Foods, added: “We’re delighted to be expanding our operations to Berwick and building upon the site’s heritage to supply high quality bakery products.”

Berwick MP Anne-Marie Trevelyan has expressed her delight at the news.

She said: “I am delighted that the tradition of manufacturing baking products will continue at the former Jus-Rol site in Berwick, and that employment will continue at the site – this is really good news for Berwick and I look forward to welcoming Country Style Foods to our town!”

Country Style Foods has sites in Peterlee, Grimsby, Flint, Leeds and Stockton in which it produces cakes, pastries and bread, including for Cadbury and Sara Lee.
