A SCHOOLBOY from Alnwick has been given the honour of presenting the Queen with a posy of flowers when she officially opens Alnwick Youth Hostel next week.
Five-year-old Jack Plumley, who attends St Michael’s C of E First School will give Her Majesty the bouquet when she arrives at the Green Batt facility on Wednesday morning, on behalf of Alnwick Community Development Trust (ACDT) which has developed the hostel.
Jack was chosen as his father, vet and Gazette columnist Dominic Plumley, is a trustee of ACDT.
Once he has presented the posy, Jack will be able to go around the facility with the Queen where she will unveil a plaque for the opening.
Mum Mary Plumley said: “He is very excited about it. He followed the Royal wedding and so he’s a bit more aware of the Queen now.
“I have never seen her in real life before so it’s quite cool for him to do it at the age of five.”
