Hundreds of guests to enjoy the celebrations

More than 500 guests will celebrate the wedding of the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland on Saturday.

It will take place at St Michael’s Church at 5pm with vicar Rev Paul Scott officiating and the Bishop of Newcastle conducting the marriage and giving the address.

Lady Melissa, 26, will be given away by her father.

She will be wearing a dress designed by Bruce Oldfield with flowers by Hexham-based florist Caro Dickinson, who will also decorate St Michael’s and Alnwick Castle.

The bride, known as Missy, will be attended by her sister, Katie Valentine, and Chelsy Davy together with 12 pages and bridesmaids – George Adam, Alfred Allison, LuElla Bacon, Sienna Barber, India Barber, Jade Benton, Niamh Cullen, Eliza Penn, Henrietta Price, Jake van Cutsem, George Vorster and Harry Tudor Williams.

Following the service, the bride and groom will return to Alnwick Castle and a reception will be held in the State Rooms of the Castle followed by dinner in a marquee in the grounds. Missy will travel to and from the church in a carriage restored for her sister, Lady Katie’s wedding

Following the reception there will be a 10-minute firework display which can be enjoyed by the community in the Pastures, with catering facilities available and music relayed.
