A housing development company is building stronger links with its community by signing up as the keynote sponsor of Alnwick’s annual beer festival next month.
Cussins is also one of the sponsors of Alnwick Food Festival, which runs alongside the beer festival organised by Alnwick and District Round Table.
The beer event takes place in Alnwick Town Hall from Friday, September 20 to Sunday, September 22.
Cussins was established in the 1920s and has relocated from Newcastle to Bondgate Within, as it forges ahead with its Limes development in Alnwick
Cussins’ managing director Jabin Cussins said: “Alnwick has a very strong sense of community and the energy that local people put into organising events within the town is very inspiring.
“It’s great that we’ve been able to support the Alnwick Beer and Food Festivals, both high-profile annual events that are set to boost both the town and trade of Alnwick.”
Themed ‘Different Counties’, the 2013 Alnwick Beer Festival will feature a line-up of 35 ales, predominantly from northern brewers. Among them is a one-off 60 Ale from Alnwick Brewery Company to commemorate the Round Table’s landmark anniversary year.
The festival runs on the Friday (sponsors’ night) from 7pm to 11.30pm, Saturday, 11am-11pm, and Sunday, noon-6pm.
The admission fee is £5, which includes tasting notes and a festival glass. Beer and food tokens cost £5 for four and most beers are one token for half-a-pint. There will be also live music from 9pm on both Friday and Saturday.
Alnwick Food Festival runs throughout Saturday, September 21, and Sunday, September 22, and will see dozens of stalls in Alnwick Market Place selling local produce.
Celebrity chef Jean-Christophe Novelli is topping the bill for the third year in a row.
There will also be entertainment, street food stands and a special family challenge event.
Cussins and Sanderson Young Estate Agents are sponsoring a children’s farm, which will be built in Bondgate Within. Kidsrome Mobile Farm will roll into town over the food festival weekend, giving youngsters a chance to meet the animals. A small entrance fee will apply.
