HOTEL: A real jewel in the crown

I read with interest that the Royal Air Force Association Wings Breaks Hotel in Rothbury has retained its '˜good' rating with the Care Quality Commission, (Northumberland Gazette, September 28).

If you have not heard about the venue, I would point out that it is in the most beautiful setting. It offers holiday accommodation to all service personnel and their families, not just those who have served in the RAF.

The fact that those who require specially-equipped bathrooms and bedrooms are catered for, as it has nine of them, means they can have a holiday with dignity. This may mean it is life-changing for some.

However, it is not the building, nor the immaculate gardens, nor the cuisine that makes this a star-rated place to stay, but the staff. They are, without doubt, the best you could hope to find. They are caring, supportive when needed, extremely efficient and make one’s stay a holiday to enjoy and remember.

My husband and I stayed at Rothbury House some years ago for a much-needed break and it was the best holiday we had. I now remain a frequent visitor and each time I visit, I receive the same warm welcome and the same warm friendship we received on holiday.

If you have not visited, I suggest you go and see for yourself.

It really is a jewel in the crown for Northumberland and a credit to the Royal Air Force Association.
