HOSPITAL: Savings will be minimal

With regard to Northumberland Clinical Commissioning Group’s (CCG) decision on Rothbury Hospital, £500,000 will not be saved in nursing salaries by the closure of the 12 beds.

The CCG wants to transfer a nice round sum out of its annual deficit, hence the excuse of the beds.

The actual saving will be minimal or nothing at all because of new costs arising from alternative methods of patient treatment.

Members of the public wishing to witness the next performance of this CCG tragic farce should attend the meeting of the council’s scrutiny committee at County Hall, on Tuesday, October 17, at 10am.

The show deserves a full house, and seats are free.
