Hospital plan gets the nod

A £75MILLION specialist emergency care hospital aimed at saving more lives in Northumberland and North Tyneside has been given the green light.

Northumberland County Council’s planning and environment committee approved the development to be built alongside the A189 to the south of East Cramlington, on Tuesday night.

The approval is subject to the planning application being referred to the Civil Aviation Authority in light of an objection from Newcastle Airport.

Work is expected to start early next year with building work estimated to take around two years to complete.
