Exploring Celtic spirituality was the theme of a radio broadcast from the north Northumberland coast, which was aired on Sunday morning.
One of Bishop Stephen Oliver’s three summer services looking at the country’s spiritual islands, he met a number of residents of Holy Island for his latest show on BBC Radio 4.
It also featured singing by the choral scholars of St Martin-in-the-Fields from the island’s St Mary’s parish church.
In the course of the 40-minute broadcast, Bishop Stephen wanted to discover what has drawn pilgrims to the island for 1300 years.
As he said during the show, ‘this tiny place has had such an extraordinary impact on the history and spirituality of England’.
The show is available to listen to now via the BBC iPlayer. It will be online until Saturday at www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01lh96j
