Hill race returns to show after long gap

A hill race is to return to a north Northumberland show after an absence of around 30 years.

The 89th Glanton Show takes place on Saturday, August 11, and the three-mile hill race up over Glanton Hill will take pride of place in the programme.

While the organisers are unsure of how long it is since the hill race was last run, it is certainly around 25 to 30 years.

Entry to the race, which starts from the showfield at 1.30pm, is £1 and there will be prize money for men, women and under 16s.

For details or to enter the race, contact Pam Girdwood on 07786 253793, or on email at pamgirdwood@hotmail.co.uk

Car parking is free, and entry to the showfield is £4 adults, £1 children or £10 for a family ticket, (two adults and up to four children).
