The Environment Agency had issued a flood alert along the Northumberland coast on Saturday, stretching from Berwick to St Mary’s Lighthouse, in Whitley Bay.

The Agency warned that high spring tides, along with northerly winds, would mean spray and overtopping waves were possible in low-lying coastal areas around high-tide times.
