Towns and villages in north Northumberland are being encouraged to enter The Great British High Street Awards.
This national competition to find and celebrate the best high streets in the country was launched last week.
The competition is being run by the Future High Streets Forum and the Association of Town and City Management.
The six categories in recognition of the diversity of Britain’s high streets are: City centre; town centre; market town; coastal community; village, and parade of shops.
Liberal Democrat Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Berwick, Julie Pörksen, said: “In Northumberland we have some fantastic local businesses and some wonderful town centres that we can be proud of. I hope they out themselves forward to inspire other high streets.”

Applications must be in by August 1, and the winners will be announced in the autumn.
