The Alnwick Garden has donated £1,000 to Alnwick Christmas Lights Committee towards its running costs.
Committee chairman Gordon Castle said: “This is a very substantial and welcome donation, which comes at a time when the Lights Committee is finding it increasingly difficult to meet the annual £12,000 budget.
“This is real evidence that The Garden is seriously engaging with Alnwick town itself by recognising the enormous and popular community effort that goes into the town’s Christmas lights display.
“I am grateful to them for this generosity and would mention also that, shortly after the Alnwick town switch-on at 7pm on Friday, November 21, in the Market Place, the Garden will have its own switch-on and free entertainment, which will very suitable for families and children.”
Rachel Bell, finance and operations manager for The Garden, said: “As light plays such an important part in The Alnwick Garden at Christmas, it is very exciting for us to support the Alnwick Christmas Lights appeal.
“We believe that it is one of the best displays in the region and we are very happy to play our part.”
