Heating oil stolen

POLICE have once again appealed to householders who use heating fuel to ensure they take appropriate crime prevention measures, following the theft of 800 litres of oil from a farmhouse near Belford.

The theft occurred sometime between December 20 and January 10, and police have asked anyone with information to contact them through the 101 non-emergency number.

Inspector Sharon Wilmore-Greaves urged residents to secure heating oil tanks, keep a regular check on the oil levels and report any person who they suspect to be suspicious to the police, providing a description and/or vehicle registration if possible.
