An Alnwick woman is helping to make the lives of children with cancer easier by having her hair cut off to be made into a wig.

Stephanie Hodgson, 25, had her long dark locks snipped into a shoulder-length style on Friday with her hair being sent to the Little Princess Trust to be made into real-hair wigs for youngster who have lost their own hair through cancer treatments.

For Stephanie the chop was a big deal.

“I’m like a hippy,” she said. “I don’t do anything to my hair.

I absolutely love it, I don’t even use products.”

She has also raised £500 for HospiceCare North Northumberland for the snip.
