It was a gruelling 150-mile, 24-hour cycling challenge with undulating roads and steep climbs – but these four hardy riders, helped on by their support team, managed to complete the feat.

Standing at the finishline, Steven Temple, Adam Clarke, Jason Belisle and Nev Henderson all give a proud smile having tackled the arduous Coast to Coast in a Day challenge.

With 4,500 metres of ascent, this endurance ride, held in June, took participants from the mountainous western Lake District, through the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors and on to Whitby.

And their efforts are proving worthwhile, as they are closing in on their £2,500 fund-raising target for The Brain Tumour Charity.

It is a cause close to Steven’s heart, because his mother and cousin have both had brain tumours.

The father-of-two, from Alnwick, said: “At some points the climbs and undulating roads never seemed to end.

“We couldn’t have done it without our support team of Paul Brown and Stuart Athey.

“We are close to our target but we need as much help as we can get.” Visit www.justgi ving.com/steven-temple
