Gritting teams will be out across Northumberland this evening as temperatures are set to drop.
Northumberland County Council will be salting the roads in parts of the rural areas where it is likely ice and hoar frost could develop after today’s rain.
Outbreaks of heavy rain this afternoon should clear south by around 8pm with skies clearing behind to leave a colder night.
Road surface temperatures could dip below freezing on higher routes with a risk of ice and hoar frost where roads remain wet or damp.
Drivers are warned to be aware of possible freezing conditions and drive with care.
Any problem areas should be reported to the council’s customer services centre on 0845 600 6400 or firstname.lastname@example.org which will then be logged directly on our severe weather system and appropriate action will be taken.
