MORE than 300 children in Northumberland and Tyne and Wear were victims of sex crimes, according to new figures from the NSPCC.

In total, 121 of the 379 victims had not yet reached their thirteenth birthday and eight were aged under five years. However the majority of the offences, 258, were reported against 13-15 year olds. The figures relate to offences last year.
