GREEN-FINGERED volunteers helped give a north Northumberland seaside town a horticultural make-over.

Their planting efforts were part of Amble in Bloom, which is under the leadership of Amble town councillor Craig Weir.

And the project, which is looking for more helpers, has come in for praise by the town’s mayor, Coun Leslie Bilboe.

Speaking at the last Amble Town Council meeting, chairman Coun Bilboe, said: “The newest venture, Amble in Bloom, is making steady progress but more volunteers are welcome.

“With donations from local businesses and Amble Town Council, I am sure the group will make Amble a very welcoming sight with its hanging baskets and improved flower beds. Well done Craig.”
