Great outdoors proves popular

A walking festival has been hailed a ‘resounding success’ after close to 400 people took part.

The fourth Rothbury and Coquetdale Midsummer Walking Festival, which was held at the end of last month, featured a packed programme of events, showcasing the area’s breathtaking views and stunning scenery.

Jon Monks, from Shepherds Walks, which arranged the eight-day festival, said: “The feedback we received was second to none and participants came to the festival from areas such as Yorkshire, Lancashire, Lincoln and further afield, and are already planning to come back for next year’s event.”

A variety of walks were on offer, ranging from Nordic walking taster sessions to wildlife treks, while the popular Cragside Challenge Walk brought the curtain down on the festival, which Jon said is going from ‘strength to strength’.
