A village has been given a grant of more than £22,000 to create a new multi-use path.
Residents will be able to use the route through Swarland Woods thanks to the funds from Defra’s Paths for Communities programme.
Jim Close, chairman of Swarland Village Action, said: “This new multi-use, all-weather route will enable more people to enjoy the woods throughout the year. We would like to thank Defra, the Forestry Commission and Northumberland County Council for all their support in developing these proposals.”
Volunteer days are being planned to clear the way for the new route with the first taking place on Saturday, November 9. Contact 01670 783903.
