A BEAUTY therapist from Alnwick has made it to the finals of Miss Northumberland, after finishing in the top five at the last heat of the competition.
Demi Chambers battled through one of the toughest elimination rounds seen so far in the contest, which is searching for a girl to represent the county at Miss England later this year.
Twelve took part in the heat held at Blackmore’s in Alnwick on Sunday night, covering an area from the Cheviots to Tynedale and North Tyneside.
The girls went through two rounds, the first to demonstrate their individual character and flair, followed by evening-wear modelling which allowed the panel to ask questions.
After a tense wait, the judges revealed their final five – 18-year-old Demi; 19-year-old Laura Jayne Mitchell, from Ashington; Felicity Corke, 22, from Hexham; 18-year-old Tyler Anderson, from Blyth and the ultimate winner, 18-year-old Emma Scott, from Blyth.
Demi, whose ambition is to own a beauty salon, said: “I’m really pleased to have got through to the final and I had a great time tonight. The girls were all amazing.”
Judge Vanessa Elliott, whose business Dreamgirlz Extensions is a sponsor of the competition, said: “The standards tonight were extremely high and it was a very tough decision to make. The choice between Emma, who won, and Demi was very close indeed.
“She is a fantastic girl and really deserves her place in the grand final.”
