GENEROUS support from local charities, organisations and individuals has helped to produce a popular free guide for over-50s, following one of the toughest fund-raising campaigns in its five-year history.
The Golden Guide is now ready for collection, even though recent cutbacks and funding shortages left its future hanging in the balance.
To help the project continue, sponsorship came from Age UK’s Information and Advice Service based in Alnwick, Northumberland County Council, Northumberland Care Trust, Bell View Resource Centre in Belford, the disability organisation NEED Ltd, Sir Alan Beith MP and SSAFA, the armed forces charity.
Editor Heather Alabaster said: “We truly thought we would not reach our goal, but with magnificent support we are delighted to be delivering 5,000 copies”
