From a performance by a pop megastar to scarecrows taking over a north Northumberland village, this August Bank Holiday promises to be a blast.
A packed programme of entertainment is lined up throughout the area over the next couple of days.
One of the main attractions will be Monday’s Glendale Show, which is north Northumberland’s largest rural showcase and attracts around 15,000 visitors each year.
The highlights at the 2012 event include the Shetland Pony Grand National, Bolddog Lings Motorcycle Display Team, a Champion of Champions Livestock Competition, donkey classes, sheep racing, a speciality food marquee, horticultural and industrial sections and much more.
On Saturday, Alnwick plays host to the Jessie J concert (see above, left) while Rennington will come alive with its annual scarecrow festival over the weekend (see below).
Other events taking place over the Bank Holiday include the Boulmer Volunteer Rescue Service Fete Day on Saturday, Amble Lifeboat Station Harbour Day on Sunday, and Elsdon Fete and Seahouses Lifeboat Fete which are both on Monday. The Aln Valley Railway site in Alnwick will also be open specially on Monday.
