TICKETS are now on sale for a special showing of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee concert.
The event is being held in Bowburn Park, the picnic area between Alnwick Castle and Alnwick Garden, where the concert will be broadcast live on a giant TV screen from 6pm on Monday, June 4.
Organised by Gary Barlow, it will feature some of the biggest names from the worlds of music, dance and musical theatre, including Shirley Bassey, Alfie Boe, Jools Holland, Jessie J, JLS, Elton John, Tom Jones, Lang Lang, Annie Lennox, Madness, Paul McCartney, Kylie Minogue, Cliff Richard, Ed Sheeran and Stevie Wonder.
During the evening’s entertainment, a beer tent and Pimms tent will quench the thirst of the crowd and food stalls will also be available.
Following the Diamond Jubilee concert, the lighting of the National Beacon at Buckingham Palace by Her Majesty The Queen will be shown live on the giant TV screen.
And to mark the end of the celebrations on Bowburn, the Duchess of Northumberland will light the Jubilee Beacon, which is situated high on one of the turrets of Alnwick Castle overlooking Bowburn Park.
Tickets to this exclusive event are now available free of charge online from The Alnwick Garden and Castle websites – www.alnwickgarden.com or www.alnwickcastle.com
The Diamond Jubilee Concert celebration is part of a wider programme of festivities being held over the Jubilee weekend at both The Garden and Castle.
Family entertainment will be the theme of the weekend, with plans for Bowburn Park to be given over to old-time fairground rides, including a helter-skelter, carousel and swingboats. The fairground will be open from 10am to 6pm on Saturday, June 2, and Sunday, June 3.
Visitors will have the chance to get fully kitted out in red, white and blue with memorabilia available to buy.
The Big Lunch will take place on the Sunday, encouraging local people and visitors to participate in a giant picnic at Bowburn from noon to 2pm.
Access to Bowburn will be free of charge and fairground rides will be priced at around £2 per go. As a special treat, those born on June 2, 1953, the date of the Queen’s Coronation, will receive free entry to The Alnwick Garden and Alnwick Castle for the whole Jubilee weekend, June 2 to 5.
Tickets to the Diamond Jubilee celebration are available from 9.30am today online from The Alnwick Garden and Castle websites.
