North Northumberland’s Conservative prospective parliamentary candidate has been continuing to lobby the Secretary of State for Transport over the landslide and road closure at Rothbury, since he came up to see it for himself.
Anne-Marie Trevelyan said: “I held a telephone meeting with DfT officials this week. Our county council has made an application to a special hardship transport fund to try to get cash to get the road rebuilt, but it’s a long shot.
“We need to give the Secretary of State every possible reason to understand why our road needs these funds more than others when he reviews the files in the weeks ahead.
“I will be meeting with his team in two weeks in London and want to provide him with evidence from as many individuals and businesses in the Coquet Valley as to the importance of this road rebuild.”
Anne-Marie is asking all those affected to take a few minutes to record their experiences, be it travel times to school or work, impact on business turnover or access to services.
