Hundreds of regular soldiers and veterans gathered in Berwick for the traditional ceremony at the barracks which was followed by a parade through streets where the salute was taken at the Town Hall.

The wearing of the rose recalls that the regiments wore wild roses at the battle that they had plucked from the hedgerows as they advanced to engage the enemy.
