At the annual general meeting of Felton Parish Council, Coun Tony Hood was elected chairman and Coun Stephen Walton the vice chairman.
The clerk has made no progress with Northumberland County Council on the St Michael’s Church footpath and has requested County Coun Trevor Thorne’s help.
Concerns were raised about the parking at Riverside. It was agreed that the clerk pursue the issue of yellow lines on the bend and also to request H bars at all the dropped kerb areas both at the top end by the bridge and the bottom end at the war memorial.
A road sweep was due to take place this week. Sweeping is done four times a year.
Members heard there have been no prosecutions or warning letters issued in the Felton area in the last six months in relation to dog fouling.
The WI has completed the refurbishment of the phone box to provide an information point, which is being well used.
The clerk has been approached in relation to how to install a parking bay for the disabled outside the doctors’ surgery.
Councillors raised concerns in allocating a space on the road due to the ongoing parking issues and suggested that a space be provided on the pavement if the county council agrees.
There is also concern about allotment holders parking on the allotment land and also people parking at the allotment gate.
It was agreed that no one should be parking on the allotment land and a letter is to be sent to the allotment holders. A no parking sign is to be installed on the gate.
Allotment holders can stop there to off-load and load into their cars but the area should be kept clear.
It was reported that the fish and chip van was doing well.
The next meeting of the parish council is on Monday, June 2, at 7pm in Felton Village Hall.
