Fatal car crash on the A697

A man in his 20s was killed in a car crash in north Northumberland last night.

At 10.24pm on Monday, November 19, police received a report that a car had left the A697 near Longframlington.

The car, a Rover 25, left the road and collided with a tree.

Police, fire and paramedics attended and the driver of the car – a man in his 20s – was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed for around four-and-a-half hours to allow for collision investigation.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact police on 101.
