No assing around now, donkey care is serious stuff

Don’t p-ass up on a chance to learn all about donkeys.

Alnorthumbria Veterinary Group is holding a seminar dedicated to the beasts of burden at its Wagonway branch in Alnwick onWednesday, January 29, at 7pm. Anna Harrison, vet from the Donkey Sanctuary, is the speaker.

The number of donkeys registered at Alnorthumbria, which manages donkeys rehomed in the Northumberland area, has recently dramatically increased and it works in liaison with the Donkey Sanctuary in the care of these donkeys.

Vet Rosie Mould said: “Donkeys can live up to 50 years, so the importance of the correct care is paramount.

“We are delighted Anna from the Donkey Sanctuary is taking the time to come and talk to both our clients and non-clients about the care of donkeys.”

“With available veterinary education on treatment and preventative medicine much improved for donkeys, we now have a lot more information than we did 10 years ago. This is thanks largely to the Donkey Sanctuary.”

The evening will include information on general care including foot trimming, worming advice, feeding and management advice and question and answers session. A representative from The Donkey Sanctuary’s field team will provide information on the donkey foster scheme.

The talk will start at 7pm and there will be refreshments and a raffle. For details ring 01670 897597 or email equine@alnorthumbriavets.co.uk
