A 50-metre wind turbine on a north Northumberland farm looks set to get the green light on Tuesday.
John Barber, of R and J Barber Farms Ltd, has applied for the turbine, 47.1metres to blade tip, on land at Brackenside Farm, to the north-east of Ford and the west of Lowick.
The application has sparked objections from 32 residents and Lowick and Bowsden parish councils, as well as 28 letters of support.
The scheme will go before Northumberland County Council’s planning and environment committee on Tuesday night and members are recommended to approve it.
In his report, the planning officer concludes that ‘on balance, the potential benefits of sustainable renewable energy are considered sufficient to outweigh the potential impacts on the character of the local landscape and visual amenity’.
The committee meets at 6pm at County Hall.
