The 32nd annual edition of a traditional show in a north Northumberland village has been hailed a success by organisers.

The treasurer of North Sunderland and Seahouses Gardening Association, James Williamson, thanked everyone who had supported the event at the weekend as well as Mrs M Woodeson for presenting the prizes.

“It was an enjoyable day which was reflected in the substantial number of local residents and visitors who came to view the lovely exhibits that were on display,” he said. There was a fantastic arrangement of flowers and vegetables, bakery items, handicrafts and children’s exhibits on show.

“The numbers of entries were up on last year especially in the flower and vegetables sections and a new quilt class in the arts and craft section proved popular. All the exhibits were of a very high standard.

“The picture and poetry exhibits by Seahouses First School reflecting the theme of the Commonwealth Games were of an excellent standard.

“A lot of hard work and commitment goes into hosting the show by the committee members, volunteers and exhibitors, but without the generosity of all our sponsors, both local businesses and individuals, to whom we extend a huge thank-you, as without your support, the show could not be staged.

“We extend a warm welcome to anyone who would like to attend our annual general meeting on Wednesday, September 24, at 7.30pm in the Stone Close Sheltered Housing Centre.”
