The next meeting of the North Northumberland Branch of Northumberland and Durham Family History Society will be held on Saturday, September 19, at 10am, in Bell View, West Street, Belford.
Our speaker will be Linda Bankier, archivist at Berwick Record Office, and she will talk on The Flodden Transcription Project.
This very successful project involved more than 40 keen volunteers who were taught the basics of palaeography in order to transcribe old documents from the times of Flodden. Fascinating information came to light for the first time concerning many aspects of the battle, particularly the cost of equipment, soldiers’ wages and ownership of horses used.
If you are interested in family or local history you will find plenty to learn about in our new programme. Everyone is welcome to our talks. We normally meet for coffee beforehand at 9.45am.
