A FREE health event is being held in Alnwick later this month.
Homes for Northumberland (HfN) has joined forces with a number of partners to deliver the Breath of Fresh Air session, which is designed to help show HfN residents and people living in the community how they can live healthy lifestyles.
The event takes place at Alnwick North Community Centre, on Howling Lane, on Saturday, April 16, between 11am and 2pm, and will offer a range of activities, from Nordic walking and bulb planting to sports coaching, cookery demonstrations and zumba.
There will also be a number of things for younger children, such as face painting and bird box making, as well as a bug hunt.
Ray Boycott, managing director at HfN, said: “Now that spring is finally here, there has never been a better time to enjoy the outdoors. Getting outside into the fresh air can help to improve your health in a number of ways, including perking up your mood, reducing anxiety and contributing to your children’s development.
“A Breath of Fresh Air is designed to help people think about new ways of getting outside and we have something planned for people of all ages so everyone can take part on the day. I’d like to say a special thanks to all of our partners for making the day possible – particular thanks goes to the Alnwick Lions for their generous £100 donation towards the event.”
Partners working alongside Homes for Northumberland and Northumberland County Council to make the event possible include Alnwick Community Centre, Alnwick Community Development Trust, Alnwick Lions, RealFood Works, Groundwork North East, Sustrans, Health Trainers, Sure Start, Age UK and Northumbria Police.
