It’s hair-raising!

A NORTHUMBERLAND conservation expert has chosen a hairy way of doing his bit for charity this month.

But Steve Lowe, head of conservation at Northumberland Wildlife Trust, is not tackling a zip-slide challenge or marathon run. Instead, he’s growing a moustache.

He is taking part in Movember, when clean-shaven blokes all over the country grow whiskers to raise funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer.

Steve, who had his own health scare last year, is hoping people will back his efforts by making a donation via his Facebook page and he’s also looking for someone to shave off his moustache on December 1.

Ten thousand men will die of prostate cancer and more than 2,000 men will be diagnosed with testicular cancer this year.
