This little one is the first seal pup of the season, having been born on the Farne Islands today.
The Farne Islands are home to more than 4,000 Atlantic Grey Seals which give birth to more than 1,500 pups during the autumn months, making it England’s largest breeding population.
The National Trust team on the island don’t know if the pup is male or female yet, but once it’s had time to bond with its mother they’ll find out – probably tomorrow.
Head ranger David Steel is asking people on Twitter to suggest names for the pup – both male and female – and he’ll announce the best tomorrow depending on the sex.
