Members of Embleton WI met at the Creighton Hall on a sunny afternoon for their July meeting.
A business meeting conducted by the president Norma Ham covered forthcoming events at Belford and Bamburgh, plans for the September birthday party and the County Pledge Auction.
Final orders for calendars and diaries were made.
Business over, preparations were made for the interactive demonstration of the making of sugar paste/marzipan roses by Janet Holt-Tibbles.
The speaker who was introduced by Barbara Thornton showed members the techniques of making roses before they donned aprons to tackle their own roses which they then used to decorate cup cakes made by the treasurer, Lynn Harris.
Mrs Holt-Tibbles told members her experiences as a demonstrator and then decorated a sandwich cake made by the president and later raffled.
The very welcome tea and biscuits gave members a chance to compare results and catch up with friends prior to their August break.
The competition winners for the theme summer were: 1 Lady Craft; 2 Mrs L Harris; 3 Mrs J Laidler. Raffle winners were: Miss J Littler and cake winner: Mrs L Harrett.
