SEAHOUSES lifeboats have attended their eighth call out this year to rescue those stranded on Holy Island causeway.

Crews were requested to launch the Seahouses inshore lifeboat at around 3.05pm to go to the assistance of two people cut off by the tide, while attempting to cross the Holy Island Causeway contrary to the safe crossing times. The two were in the Refuge Box.

The inshore lifeboat was quickly launched, and under way, arriving at the causeway at 3.38pm that day. The two persons were recovered from the Refuge Box, and brought ashore safely on the mainland side, where they were handed into the care of Coastguard Rescue Officers from Seahouses.
